Production Supervisor

CASCADES TISSUE GROUP
The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.
Your challenge!
As the Production Supervisor, you will have a diverse work load in support of the manufacturing needs of the plant. The successful candidate will collaborate with other departments to assess the plants processes and use their critical thinking skills to trouble-shoot any issues that arise. You will have an opportunity to expand your knowledge as each day varies and be able to contribute to the plant's growth and success.
Job Responsibilities
Manage and engage staff based on Cascades' values and business strategy
Drive change initiative and implement process improvements as part of a multi-functional team
Lead safety efforts for employees by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings and coordinating worker safety activities
Optimize efficiencies and drive efforts to reduce waste and downtime and increase production availability
Effectively manage human and material resources to ensure sound financial performance and achievement of manufacturing efficiency targets
Coordinate training efforts for a diverse workforce and have a working knowledge of best practices for training and development
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or relevant field (preferably in pulp/paper)
3-10 years of prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility
Expierence with paper machines
Business Objectives Alignment
Ensure, as technical specialist, that unit action plans and manufacturing objectives are in line with his group's strategy
Operational Excellence
Develop and help implement standardized operations best practices, including managing performance indicators
Analyze and recommend manufacturing efficiency objectives for his unit and support action plans
Develop good relationships with business partners
Assist with commissioning new equipment
Maximize synergy and foster collaboration among Cascades' groups, units and business units
Make recommendations on selecting/modifying manufacturing equipment and optimizing its performance
Monitor major tests carried out by units
Help solve the unit's technical issues
Support his unit's continuous improvement initiatives
Support investment projects and manage them as needed
Human Resources
Design and implement a talent development and succession strategy in his department in collaboration with Human Resources
Build a team of competent and dedicated people whose skills complement one another
Make sure the work flow and job structure are tailored to his unit's needs
Manage and engage his staff based on Cascades' values and business strategy
Health & Safety
Create a safe and healthy work environment for all department employees
Promote sound occupational health and safety management
Personally commit to and display strong leadership in health and safety
Corporate Responsibility and Governance
Make sure governance rules are followed and responsibilities are carried out
Ensure the sustainable and responsible development of his department

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
