Assistant Plant Manager

CASCADES TISSUE GROUP

The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Your challenge!

Reporting to the General Manager and Plant Manager, the candidate will be responsible for the administration and operations of the plant. This Role is a transition role to take over for the interim Plant manager. Main responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the production activities of the plant with the cooperation of the management team, responsible for maintenance, quality management, continuous improvement, purchase, involved in sales and customer relationships management as well as new product development.
  • Implement management systems to optimize activities and achieve corporate and plant objectives in terms of quality, profitability, efficiency and health & safety.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient and motivated team.
  • Lead the management team in the growth and development of the facility.

Desired education and experience

  • To possess an University degree and 10+ years of experience, or any other pertinent experience. Engineering degree preferred( Masters desired).
  • Tissue experience highly desired
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement experience, including org. change/change mgt.
  • To possess good management and supervision skills.
  • Progressive management and supervisory roles in a manufacturing environment
  • To show leadership and dynamism and to possess good communication skills.
  • To be flexible and motivated to take up challenges, showing strong initiative.
  • Past experience demonstrating results in strong safety culture.

Design and implement a talent development and succession strategy for his unit, in cooperation with Human Resources

Ensure that the work flow and job structure are tailored to his unit s needs

Manage and engage his staff based on Cascades values and business strategy

Accept the full responsibility that comes with his position in line with Cascades OSH requirements

Identify the unit s OSH priorities in line with corporate objectives and follow up on them

Insist on and create a safe and healthy work environment for all his unit staff

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
