Financial Analyst

The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Your challenge!

We are currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our St. Helens team. This role will effectively collaborate with our manufacturing departments and is responsible for conducting variance analysis for the mill.

The successful candidate should be detail oriented, highly motivated, and adaptable to various environments.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Plant Controller, the chosen candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist controller in the day to day accounting functions;
  • Assist the controller in the month-end close and do the reporting to the corporate in a timely basis;
  • Help the controller ensure the reliability and completeness of the financial information and explain all variance to the standard;
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual budget;
  • Participation in producing ad hoc analysis for the management to take decision and find opportunity;
  • Help the controller overseeing the internal controls.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field;
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar position;
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Demonstrated initiative and rigor in carrying out responsibilities;
  • Proven communication and organizational skills;
  • Able to manage priorities and work in an ever-changing environment;
  • Working knowledge of SAP is preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
