Health and Safety Manager

Purpose:
To implement management systems to systematically identify, evaluate and control potential losses. The Safety & Health Manager will support the Site Manager and Staff by advising them on matters of regulatory compliance and safe operations.
Core Accountabilities
+ Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations.
+ Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values.
+ Works closely with the site leadership teams to ensure our business culture is driven by our company values.
+ Supports BEx (continuous improvement) initiatives through active participation, including identification of efficiency and quality improvements in work processes and problem solving.
+ Promote the IPL HSE management system so that policies, procedures, and requirements are understood, properly interpreted, administered and reviewed.
+ Provide consultation and coaching to all employee groups with a purpose of instilling and maintaining a pro-active approach to safety in all areas.
+ Train others on incident investigation techniques (RCA-FBD) and the use of the IPL incident and action item database (SHAERS), and participate in incident investigations, reporting and follow-up.
+ Coordinate on-site and off-site safety and health training for new and existing employees.
+ Provide direction with regard to employee medical surveillance, transitional (restricted) duty and return to work policies.
+ Accompany external safety and health auditors during plant inspections.
+ Facilitate federal (OSHA and DHS) inspections of the plant to assist positive outcome.
+ Provide technical expertise in occupational health & safety regulations, policies and procedures.
+ Make recommendations to site management regarding health and safety policy issues.
+ Develop and oversee the implementation of local H&S policies and programs.
Technical Competencies
Education:
+ Bachelor?s Degree or higher in a Health & Safety or related field.
+ CSP ? Certified Safety Professional preferred.
Experience:
+ 5 years demonstrated management/safety skills in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
+ OSHA laws compliant.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Good working knowledge of the Quality Assurance program and safety processes through previous assignments.
+ Ability to interact and discuss issues with regulatory compliance officials.
+ Ability to provide direction and coaching to others in an effective leadership manner.
+ Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among all shift employees.
+ Working knowledge of OSHA PSM requirements required.
+ Knowledge of basic investigative techniques for root cause analysis.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
